How Far Is the Airport from Žnjan Beach?
Split Airport (SPU) is located in Kaštela, about 24 km west of Žnjan Beach. The drive takes 25–35 minutes via the coastal road, though summer traffic through the Kaštela towns can push this to 40–50 minutes.
| Option | Price | Time | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Promet Bus 37 | €1.50–3 | ~60 min | Budget travellers |
| Airport shuttle | €9 | 30–40 min | Solo mid-budget |
| Bolt | €30–45 | 25–30 min | Best value door-to-door |
| Uber | €35–50 | 25–30 min | App convenience |
| Taxi | €40–55 | 25–35 min | No app needed |
| Rental car | From €15/day | 25–30 min | Multi-day stays |
Option 1: Public Bus (Cheapest — €1.50)
Promet Split line 37 runs from the airport through the Kaštela towns to Split. It’s the cheapest option but the slowest.
- Price: €1.50 via the Promet app, €3 from the driver
- Frequency: Every ~20 minutes on weekdays
- Hours: 04:00–23:45 daily
- Journey time: About 60 minutes to the Sukošan terminus in eastern Split
How it works: Take bus 37 into Split, then transfer to bus 8 or 15 to reach Žnjan Beach. Total travel time including the transfer is approximately 75–90 minutes.
Tip: Download the Promet Split app to buy tickets at the cheaper €1.50 price. Tickets must be validated via QR after boarding — failure to validate risks a €20 fine.
Option 2: Airport Shuttle Bus (€9)
Pleso Prijevoz operates the official airport shuttle to Split’s main bus station.
- Price: €9 one way
- Departure: Timed to flight arrivals, usually 20 minutes after landing
- Journey time: 30–40 minutes
- Drop-off: Split Main Bus Station (Obala Kneza Domagoja 12)
- Tickets: Buy online at plesoprijevoz.hr or from the driver
From the bus station to Žnjan: The bus station is about 6 km from Žnjan Beach. Take bus 15 (stops right at the bus station) or a quick Uber/Bolt (€6–9, 10 minutes).
Best for: Solo travellers on a mid-range budget. The €9 + €2 bus combo gets you to Žnjan for about €11 total.
Option 3: Bolt (Best Value Door-to-Door)
Bolt is generally the cheapest ride-hailing option in Split and operates at the airport.
- Price: €30–45 to Žnjan Beach (varies by demand)
- Journey time: 25–30 minutes
- Pickup: Outside the terminal on the main road
Tip: Download the Bolt app before your trip. If you’re travelling with 2–3 people, the per-person cost (€10–15 each) makes it comparable to the shuttle bus — and you go straight to the beach.
Option 4: Uber
Uber also operates at Split Airport with UberX, Comfort, XL, and Van options.
- Price: €35–50 to Žnjan Beach
- Journey time: 25–30 minutes
- Pickup: Outside the terminal
Uber vs Bolt: Bolt is typically €5–10 cheaper for the same route. Both apps work well in Split. Surge pricing applies during peak summer months for both.
Option 5: Taxi (No App Needed)
Metered taxis wait outside the airport terminal.
- Price: €40–55 to Žnjan Beach
- Base fare: ~€2.40 plus ~€1.10 per km
- Journey time: 25–35 minutes
- Surcharges: Night, weekend, and holiday rates may apply
Tip: Agree on the price before getting in, or insist the meter is running. Airport taxis can sometimes overcharge tourists.
Option 6: Rental Car
Split Airport has an extensive car rental center with both international and local operators.
Available companies: Sixt, Europcar, Hertz, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, and several local agencies.
- Price: From about €15/day (off-season economy) to €50–80/day in peak summer
- Journey time: 25–30 minutes to Žnjan
- Best for: Visitors staying multiple days who want to explore beyond Split
Parking at Žnjan: The beach has 530 underground and 451 outdoor parking spaces (~981 total). Paid parking is in effect from July 16. The underground garage keeps your car cool in summer heat.
Train — Not Available Yet
There is currently no train service to Split Airport. A rail extension is under planning (feasibility study completed as of 2026), but no construction date has been confirmed.
Best Strategy by Budget
Budget (€3–11)
Take bus 37 from the airport to Split (€1.50–3), then bus 15 to Žnjan (€1.50). Total: about €3–5. Or take the Pleso shuttle (€9) + bus 15 (€2) for €11 total.
Mid-Range (€15–25 per person)
Split a Bolt with 2–3 travel companions. At €30–45 total, that’s €10–15 per person for a comfortable door-to-door ride.
Convenience (€35–55)
Bolt or Uber directly to the beach. No transfers, no waiting.
Multi-Day (€15+/day)
Rent a car at the airport. Drive to Žnjan in 25 minutes. Use the underground garage for covered parking.
Quick Tips
- Download Bolt and Uber before landing — both work at Split Airport
- Summer traffic warning: The coastal road through Kaštela gets congested July–August. Allow extra time
- Bus 37 to bus 15 is the cheapest combo (€3 total) but takes 75–90 minutes
- Book rental cars early — summer prices spike and availability drops
- The shuttle drops you at the bus station, not the beach. You’ll need a second transfer
- Parking charges at Žnjan Beach apply from mid-July — budget €5–10/day for parking if driving
